| January 2004 found us in Costa Rica. On
the trail at Monteverde, Linda St. Clair actively searches out a tarantula
in its den. |

I think I enjoyed hummingbirds and
butterflies the most. This one looks like an owl--which is reflected in its
name: Owl Butterfly--Caligo Memnon |

|
| We rented this five bedroom house at the
Sugar Beach Hotel in Guanacaste. |

|
 |
In Santa Cruz, we stopped for dinner at
the women's coop. Not your typical tourist stop. Good food, cheap. Lotsa
atmosphere. |
| The group says good by to our guide, Leo,
and river, Jose at Sugar Beach. |

|
 |
At La Paloma (the dove) at Drake Bay on
the Osa Peninsula we loved our rooms and our hammocks. Too bad we were too
busy to relax for very long. |
| Cristi, Linda and Alice take a beach walk
while Gary and Stan (in the background) enjoy the surf. |
